starting over

there is no color outside my window.  a white blanket covers the grass, white sheets hang off the trees, streets are buried.  an occasional hue of color (probably wondering away from its mother rainbow) will scoot by, usually walking a dog.  the numb that creeps up my legs creates a perfect state for reflection.

2009 is alive; a living, breathing animal that wants to grow.  i was able to take part in absolutely amazing events, meet remarkable people, and provide for new friends. it started with my first booking, bringing rochester band surprise surprise to SUNY Potsdam.   soon after i was able to book shows for liana gabel, the knockdown, greene reveal, and keeping wyatt (as well as bringing surprise surprise back) at both SUNY Potsdam and two different downtown potsdam clubs.  all the while I kept up with doing my weekly radio show, this included providing bands with radio interviews and live sessions.  i also worked with keeping wyatt, working with them to put out a record through Madstop Records, a student run record label at SUNY Potsdam.

over the summer i was privileged to go to the vans warped tour with my other friends at WAIH Radio and meet dear and the headlights, therefore I am, big d and the kids table, and streetlight manifesto while also helping to do a interview with westbound train.  i also planned a tour for new Madstop Records artist keeping wyatt, doing a few dates with surprise surprise, the venetia fair, and these green eyes.  while we weren’t able to keep this lineup, keeping wyatt was still able to perform in potsdam, albany, and boston with kiss kiss, kristeen young, fly upright kite, these green eyes, hollywood lies, and big city lights.

during the fall i worked with Madstop Records to putting together a battle of the bands that featured bands all around new york, including carpo phorus, echo drive, abbot hayes, and peter house.  we also released keeping wyatt’s debut ep, act as if. i also kept up with my weekly radio show, wolf’s mouth.  through WAIH, i was able to go to new york city for the CMJ music festival which featured panels by the music industry’s most talented people and hundreds of bands.  i was able to see portugal. the man, deer tick, the antlers, fanfarlo, nightmare of you, julia nunes, the temper trap, all the day holiday, nathaniel rateliff, and many other groups from around the world.

being blessed doesn’t mean being lucky, it means you are given the strength to do something amazing and goes further than yourself.  i’ve been blessed.

sorry for the lack of updates lately.  i’ve moved into a new dorm and had to catch up with a lot of school work.  but i haven’t been completely silent.  lets just say there is reason for excitement.  i’m doing big things and can’t wait to see them all come together.
